The session will cover the unique challenges individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) face during the holiday season. It will also provide practical strategies for supporting individuals and their families.

  1. Discuss the prevalence and patterns of substance use during the holidays. 
  2. Describe the unique challenges related to individuals with SUD and their families during the holidays.
  3. Identify effective strategies for supporting individuals and families.

Presenter

Suzan Blacher, PhD, RN, CARN, CNE; Nova Southeastern University; Miami, Florida

Dr. Suzan Blacher is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing at Nova Southeastern University Dr. Blacher has been a nurse for over 40 years and worked in outpatient and in patient addiction treatment programs. She is a Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN).
