Call for Abstracts

The American Society of Addiction Nursing (ASAN) invites abstracts for our 2026 Conference, to be held August 5-8, 2026, at the Drury Hotel at Disney Springs, Orlando, Florida. Abstracts from all levels of practice and areas of expertise are encouraged!

The theme of the Conference is Excellence in Addiction Treatment

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. Eastern on February 1, 2026.
New this year – Pharmacology CE’s may be awarded to appropriate presentations!

Overall Conference Learning Objectives

  • Enhance knowledge of substance use disorder/addictions in various populations about nursing practice.
  • Identify contributions and current achievements in the substance use/addiction environment.
  • Recognize successful strategies to innovate and collaborate that will promote excellence in addiction nursing practice, education, and research.
  • Advance substance use /addiction nurses as leaders in care excellence.

 Who Should Submit

  • Abstract submissions are welcomed from nursing, healthcare professionals, and students providing care to patients with addiction and substance use disorders. ASAN members receive savings on their registrations!
  • Only the primary author or lead organizer should submit an abstract.

Abstract Submission Guide for Oral Presentation or Poster Presentation
The Abstract Review Committee will conduct blind reviews of all abstracts

  • ORAL PRESENTATION (50 minutes with 10 minutes Q&A)
  • POSTER PRESENTATION *(A limited number of posters will be accepted due to space constraints).
  • For each abstract you submit, please indicate if it is an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
  1. Submission title - Limited to 25 words
  2. Submission category - select from one of the five tracks listed below:
    • Track 1: Clinical & Evidence-based Practice
    • Track 2: Pharmacology
    • Track 3: Education & Professional Development
    • Track 4: Leadership/Administration
    • Track 5: Research
  3. Learner level - Beginner; Novice; Intermediate; Expert
  4. Learning objectives - Please provide at least 3 measurable objectives.
  5. Abstract content - The abstract is limited to 300 words (i.e., excluding the title and author information and includes 3 current peer-reviewed references (not included in word count). The text should highlight the main points of the presentation.
  6. Primary author details - submitters must provide the full name, credentials, contact information, and short biography (150 words) for each author in your submission.
  7. Nursing CE support documents - The primary author must submit their CV/Resume for Nursing CE approval.
  8. Accepted abstracts - the primary author will receive an email notification of acceptance on or before 22-February-2026. Please be aware of the conference dates and location before committing to present.
  9. To be accepted, you must be willing and able to attend the 2026 ASAN Annual Conference in-person at Disney Springs, August 5- 8, 2026. If you are selected to present, you are required to sign a presenter agreement, which states that you will comply with the deadlines listed and presenter guidelines. Failure to meet the required deadlines and presenter guidelines may result in the cancellation of your presentation. Note that evidence-based references are required for all presentations.
  10. You must confirm your presentation (acceptance notification will be sent by email) within one week of notification.

Program Materials Deadline

Podium presentations. Slides/handouts (including the necessary disclosure information) are required in order to present for all oral and poster sessions, sessions. Program materials must be submitted for your presentation (instructions will be provided in the notification email). 

Poster presentations. Poster presenters must provide a PDF copy of their poster and the necessary disclosure information (instructions will be provided in the notification email).

All presenters must register for the full conference.
