This webinar is designed to equip clinicians with the skills needed to translate clinical work into accepted conference presentations. We cover the essential building blocks of a strong abstract, breaking down the required formats of background, methods, results, and conclusions. Participants will learn how to distill complex patient data, quality improvement projects, or original research into clear, compelling narratives that capture a selection committee's attention. The workshop also emphasizes the development phase, offering practical strategies for drafting, refining, and editing your work to meet stringent submission guidelines. Whether you are a novice researcher or a seasoned practitioner, this foundational guide provides the exact tools required to confidently share your interests related to a subject, population, disease, or disorder.

Learner Objectives

  1. Identify the core structural components of a standard medical abstract, including Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
  2. Differentiate between the specific formatting and narrative requirements for original research, clinical case reports, and quality improvement (QI) initiatives.
  3. Apply concise medical writing techniques to synthesize complex clinical data and patient outcomes within strict word-count limitations.
  4. Recognize and correct common structural, statistical, and stylistic errors that frequently lead to rejection by conference selection committees.
  5. Formulate a systematic development process for outlining, drafting, and collaboratively editing submissions with co-authors to meet stringent conference guidelines.
