This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the fourth wave of the opioid epidemic in the United States.

Learner Objectives

Describe the historical first 3 distinct waves of the opioid epidemic in the United States. Examine the 4th wave of the opioid epidemic, including the incidence and epidemiology. Discuss the pharmacology and physiological effects of fentanyl and stimulants.

Dr. Deborah Salani is a Professor of Clinical/Director of the Post Graduate PMHNP program at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Salani has been a nurse for over 35 years and is both a pediatric and psychiatric nurse practitioner.
