Selected Topics in Trauma-Informed Care

Description

This webinar serves to provide a foundation for members of the healthcare team in the understanding and delivery of trauma-informed care and is applicable to most inpatient, ambulatory, and specialty settings. Topics include brief discussions of: the ubiquitous nature of trauma and ACEs, social justice framework, definitions of TIC, and implementation of TIC.

Learner Objectives

  1. Define TIC. 
  2. Understand the relevance of trauma and trauma-informed care (TIC). 
  3. Describe TIC practices during patient care.

Presenter

Megan Phillips, MSN, FNP-BC; Mass General Brigham Occupational Health and Urgent Care; MGH Institute of Health Professions; Endicott College; Boston, Massachusetts

Meg Phillips (she/her) has a background in addiction medicine, correctional medicine, veteran and undomiciled population care, urgent care, and occupational health. She has charge nurse experience on the inpatient psych/addiction unit at McLean Hospital. She also teaches at the graduate NP level at MGH IHP and Endicott College where she frequently incorporates substance use disorder, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and social justice topics into her courses.
